Mea Wang is currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary. She received her Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) degree with first-class honour from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba. She earned her MASc and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Wang’s research focuses on the design and development of networking systems and algorithms, with special interests in multimedia networking, cloud computing, distributed systems, extended reality, digital twins, and data science. Dr. Wang’s leads the NetMedia.Sys lab in conducting excellent research to bridge the gap between computing and networking in network and multimedia systems. They deliver innovative solutions to enhance Quality-of-Service (QoS) and Quality-of-Experience (QoE) for users and to optimize system resources for service providers.
Dr. Wang has been awarded the University of Calgary Research Excellence Chair (2024), Parex Innovation Fellowship (2023), the Order of the University of Calgary (2022), the University of Calgary Faculty Association’s Community Service Award (2020), University of Calgary PEAK Scholar Award (2019), and Faculty of Science Award of Excellence in Community Outreach (2017).
